Daniel Klein has spent 18 seasons chasing marlin on the reef. He’s President of the Cairns Professional Game Fishing Association, holds Master V and MED1 licenses, and is a qualified marine mechanic — so if something breaks at sea, he fixes it himself.
Between them, the crew has tournament wins and multi-hundred-pound marlin captures on the books. More useful than the wins: they run the boat end to end — engine room, tackle, galley, deck — so charter guests get one team, not a rotating roster.

I had my first trip to the GBR with some friends on Shore Thing 58 last year. What can I say, a trip of a lifetime. The boat is amazing, super comfortable and an absolute fishing machine. The food was amazing, not sure how you guys did it but it was like I was eating at a restaurant overnight. The only thing better than the boat was the crew, honestly you could not pick a group of guys I would rather go fishing than Kleiny and his crew. Not only super friendly, and accomodating but absolute guns out on the water, watching them work was something else. It’s got me hooked, I will be back every year without a question. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Our full-day and live‑aboard charters include expert crew led by Captain Daniel Klein, premium Shimano tackle, top-of-the-line electronics, gourmet meals, and comfortable cabins aboard the 58ft Assegai Shore Thing.
The prime season is September to December between Cairns and Lizard Island, when giant black marlin migrate to the Ribbon Reefs.
We run Cairns live‑aboard trips targeting giant black marlin, and year-round offshore fishing out of the Gold Coast—targeting blue, black & striped marlin, tuna, mahi mahi, pelagic and reef species.
We fish from the custom-built 58ft Assegai Shore Thing, featuring top-tier Shimano tackle (6–60 kg), Furuno sonar and ARG gyro stabilization—designed for offshore giants without sacrificing guest comfort.

While the main game fishing boat (like Shore Thing) is used for the actual fishing, the mothership provides extra space, luxury accommodation, and amenities—ideal for multi-day charters chasing giant marlin on the Great Barrier Reef. It allows anglers to stay close to prime fishing grounds without returning to port.
